Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort, has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years and is still as popular as ever.
The safe, sandy, accredited beaches of the North and South Bays are broken by a rocky headland on which stands a reminder of the past - Scarborough's medieval castle.
North Bay is consistent but very exposed to the winds with a hollow reef break on the south side of the bay and reliable a frame in the middle. Best at low tide, the beach is very popular. South bay is sheltered from the north winds and can clean up massive messy north swells and be the only surfable spot in the area. Best at mid tide this is a popular bodyboarding spot. Busy holiday resort.
